$1.5 Million Check Delivered
The Walnut Creek Library Foundation delivered its third check
to the City on Jan. 19, bringing the group's total contribution
to date to $3.5 million. Since launching its fundraising campaign
in early 2007, the Library Foundation has raised just over $5
million from about 500 community organizations and individuals.
The first annual celebration of Bay Area authors raised over $30,000 to benefit the new Walnut Creek Library! The gala was sponsored by Broadway Plaza and featured Diablo Magazine's Peter Crooks and authors Ayelet Waldman, Eric Simmons, Cameron Tuttle, Simon Wood and Lisa McGuinness at the Renaissance Club Sport Hotel in Walnut Creek.
Authors Cameron Tuttle (seated left) and Lisa McGuinness (seated

Under The Stars celebration. Pictured with them are (left to right)

Story Magic Delights Families
On
Sunday, June 14, 2009, more than 150 eager children and their
families enjoyed an enchanting afternoon of stories, puppets and
magic at Story Magic. Sponsored by the Library
Foundation and Mechanics Bank, the afternoon showcased the variety
of programs for children that will be possible in the new library.
Highlighting the afternoon was famed children's author and Caldecott
winner Robert D. Souci, who read from two of his books, Two
Bear Cubs and The Talking Eggs. Performances by
the PT Puppets and Germar the Magician rounded out the afternoon.
